Signature Elegance and Simplicity

Giorgio Armani and Samsung present the understated yet cutting-edge Armani-Samsung phone, which meets the needs of those who seek to own a technologically advanced and beautifully designed telephone with which to communicate and complete their lifestyle.

Giorgio Armani’s signature style permeates each unique feature of this exclusive card-slim phone. Representing the finest in technological craftsmanship, the Armani-Samsung phone is the perfect accessory for your Armani suit.

The display is touch sensitive and intended to be used with a fingertip, just like the one on the Apple iPhone. It senses even very light finger touches on its surface, but also seems responsive to indirect finger touches as well. For example, I was able to fumble through the menus and dial pad on the phone while wearing a pair of insulated leather gloves, something that I found quite surprising. Considering that the touch screen works in spite of leather, paper, or plastic most of the time, it seems quite possible that it is somewhat pressure sensitive, even though the display doesn’t appear to have any real give to it. The touch action doesn’t work as well as the iPhone’s, but overall it works better than LG’s Venus and Prada handsets do.

Almost the entire front side is occupied by the touch sensitive 2.6 inch display with QVGA resolution. It is surrounded by dark-colored area covered with one-piece glass, and below is the GIOGIO ARMANI logo, while the one of Samsung is only on the back. This once again reminds us of the PRADA phone by LG, as both phones show the fashion brand label on their fronts. The display is used for controlling of the device as both numeric and navigation keys are missing. It responds to the touch of a finger by the electricity that runs over the skin, so must be used with finger only, not with any artificial pointer (pen for example). Although it is far from being as responsive as the display of the iPhone, it is good in this respect for most people and it will be rare to touch it without response. We say for most people, because there are some who are exceptions and the display reacts worse to their touch. With standard display that is activated by the physical touch, there isn’t such case.

Speedster with Style

This compact phone is conveniently portable, easily fitting into pockets or bags. Users will enjoy the sleek and reflective surface, enhanced by changeable back covers that complement your mood and style.

One of the slimmest 3G phone on the market and the style is subjective but I must say this phone looks sleek and cool. The overall form is great, disappears easily to your shirt’s pocket although I wouldn’t suggest to put it in your jeans. Very simple and yet effective trick, the red back panel looks very stylish. The keypad is large and easy to use, the buttons are clear with the white back light. The screen is great, enough color and brightness even under the sun. Speakerphone is facing forward - well done.

Dynamic Innovation Hidden in Sleek Elegance

The Samsung E950 is an stunningly upgraded version of Samsung’s popular E900 released last year. In addition, the slider has a cutting-edge sub touch navigation panel called Dynamic Adaptive Control Pad where the input keys change according to the menu requirements.

The SGH-E950 is a powerful 3-megapixel camera phone equipped with an improved, unique touch navigation user interface, while the SGH-E840, with its minimalist and futuristic design, boasts a super slim frame at just 10.6mm and a glossy. mirror-like surface. The SGH-J600 comes with an affordable 1.3-megapixel camera, and comes in a variety of vivid colours. One of the common features available in all three phones is the Touch Sensitive Keypad. Unlike ordinary keypads, Touch Sensitive Keys respond to just a light sweep of the fingers, and the back-lit keys automatically illuminate in blue when you slide up the phone.

The phone itself has a 240 x 320 size screen and 262,000 colour display, with also copes well with bright sunlight. As far as the media side goes the handset offer MP3, A2DP, Video Record and an impressive 3.2 megapixel with night mode and an array of editorial options. The messaging formats are pretty much in line with the norm, with SMS, MMS and EMS catered for, although the phone also offers EDGE, Bluetooth, USB and GPRS connectivity. Unfortunately there is not a 3G service on this, perhaps one of the major disappointments.

The Samsung E950 measures 98 x 46 x 15 mm, which doesn’t make it the slimmest slider currently available, but in terms of size the Samsung E950 is pretty compact and even light. The mobile makes good use of metal and matt black plastic. We like the design and the construction itself seems pretty solid. Thanks to the touch-sensitive elements on the front panel, the surface is smooth and there are no keys sticking out. The touch-sensitive navigation display is inside a silver frame at the lower end. A slight recess above the display nests the earpiece.

Slide Up to a New Slim!

The Ultra Edition D840 is an ultra slim slide-up that excels in design, simplicity, portability and performance. A marvel to look at and a pleasure to use, this Samsung mobile is in a class all by itself.

The D840 is the company’s pseudo fashion looking phone. Opting for, the now fashionable again silver, the phone features a highly reflective large 2.12-inch screen with 240 x 320 resolution screen that dominates the slider design.

If you’re thinking you’re all of a sudden reading the LG Shine mobile phone review, your not. The Samsung might have gone for the sliver look, the reflective screen, and the slimline 11.9mm thick design, but that’s all.

The inners are very much Samsung and its Ultra Edition interface and we found the multiple controls including the dpad on the front a lot easier to use.

Likewise the software is very easy to use whether its finding a contact or checking your messages.

Compared to the D900, the phone’s nearest cousin from Samsung, there are some noticeable differences, mainly the use of a 2 megapixel rather than a 3 megapixel camera for starters and a better looking design.
